In the year 62 A.D, the Roman Empire ruled all of Briton with a brutal fist. The Celtic tribes loathed the oppressive regime of Emperor Nero, but no one dared face down the unstoppable Roman war machine. After the Roman army murdered her tribesman, annexed her land, and raped her daughters, Boudicca, the warrior queen of the small Iceni tribe, decided to fight back. With the other clans of Briton swarming to her aid, Boudicca raised a British army that would be unsurpassed in size until the trenches of World War I. In a series of tactical strikes, Boudicca's army razed the Roman territories of St Albans and Colchester to the ground, and nearly annihilated the Ninth Legion. Finally, Boudicca engaged in a massive confrontation with the Roman Governor General Seutonius Paulinus and his troops; despite inflicting huge causalities upon the Roman force, Boudicca's army was destroyed and, rather than face capture, she took her own life by poison. The documentary BOUDICCA: WARRIOR QUEEN traces the amazing history of these ancient events, and tells the story of one of the greatest warriors to ever live.
